Valuing a LEGO set requires analyzing both the retail cost of its components and its potential collector appeal. The primary benchmark used by builders is the price-per-part (PPP) ratio, calculated by dividing the retail price by the total part count.
Historically, a ratio of 10 cents ($0.10) per part has been the baseline standard. Sets with a PPP below 10 cents are generally considered good values. Additionally, the number and rarity of included minifigures significantly drive collector value, often constituting 50% or more of a set's secondary market worth.
