The mathematics of recipe scaling
Scaling a recipe is the process of adjusting ingredient quantities to match a new yield or serving size. To scale a recipe, you must first calculate the scale factor (or multiplier) by dividing the target yield by the original yield.
For example, if a recipe serves 4 people but you need to feed 12, your scale factor is 3 (12 divided by 4). You then multiply the quantity of every single ingredient in the recipe by 3 to ensure the proportions and flavors remain consistent.
