Overtime pay rules
Overtime pay is compensation paid to non-exempt employees for hours worked beyond the standard workweek (usually 40 hours). In many countries, this is legally mandated to protect workers and share labor gains.
Standard overtime is calculated as time-and-a-half (1.5x regular hourly wage), though double-time (2.0x) is sometimes applied for holidays, Sundays, or shifts exceeding 12 daily hours.
